Steel tank exteriors are susceptible to corrosion brought on by many outside causes. In all cases, once the outside coating on the surface has been breached and corrosion has been able to start under the tank's protective coating, the structural integrity of the vessel can be affected and if not corrected, eventually compromise the useful life of the tank. In may cases, if the breach is caught in time, the damage to the material underneath can be minimal and easily repaired. Only proper preparation and application of the tank surface and coating can guarantee many years of trouble free service.
